Meet Lakeshia Consuelo Hamilton

Ms. Hamilton is a poet and author who loves the worlds of music and literature. In 1995, under the direction of Dr. Bradley Almquist, she traveled to England, Scotland, and Wales to record a live performance CD named A Musical Tour of Britain, with the Murray State Concert Choir visiting some of the most historical and beautiful cathedrals in the world! This was one of her most treasured experiences. After returning to the United States, Lakeshia participated in Alpha Phi Alpha’s Miss Black and Gold Scholarship Pageant in 1995 and won the title, a tremendous honor. Later in Spring 96, she became a proud Eta Upsilon's Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. member. In 2000, she graduated with her bachelor's in criminal justice and completed her master's in 2009 in strategic leadership. For most of her career, Ms. Hamilton has worked as a contractor installation manager at Ft. Gordon, Ft. Carson, and Clay Kaserne in Wiesbaden, Germany, providing academic, advising, and career advice to soldiers and their family members on how to best prepare to transition from active-duty military life to civilian life, but writing is her passion. In the last two years, Ms. Hamilton has published her first two novels, a sequel, Lullaby, Book I, and Encore, Book II, a dream long realized.
